Background
I work as a terrestrial ecologist at the Biodiversity section at the Norwegian Polar Institute (2012 and onwards). I am responsible for the national monitoring program of Svalbard reindeer and currently leading COAT Svalbard (Climate-Ecological Observatory for Arctic Tundra). My main research interest is within population, community and applied ecology. Currently I am working with climate effects and trophic interactions of both resident and migratory species in the Svalbard tundra ecosystem.
My role in SUSTAIN
I am part of the Svalbard study case focusing on harvest and climate effects on the resident species in Svalbard – arctic fox, Svalbard rock ptarmigan and Svalbard reindeer. In particular, I will provide long-term datasets for studies of interacting effects from climate and harvest on Svalbard reindeer and ptarmigan. Besides the scientific contribution I will also provide expert knowledge on the terrestrial Svalbard ecosystem and insight into local management and the stakeholders. Additionally, I will supervise students and cooperate across nodes on several publications.
